If your annual report is in InDesign, we export the text to a format called IDML, a plain text format. Once the translation is complete, we import the text back into InDesign so that everything is in the right place. Following this, we check everything to ensure no headings or paragraphs overrun or are misplaced. We then create a PDF that you can use on your website or to print hard copies.
In principle yes, but with some caveats. Sentences must not be broken across several cells, as this causes problems for our translation tools. In Excel-based annual reports, some cells tend to have references to other cells or formulas, which are sometimes excluded from the main text when it’s published. If the text increases in size – as it often does when translating – it is also much harder to fit the text on one page and it is extremely difficult to ensure the text flows onto the next page, as it does in Word.
Excel is therefore a slightly trickier format to translate into, so we usually prefer to convert the annual report into a PDF and then into Word to avoid these problems.
We can assess how an Excel file is structured to determine which approach is best.
Yes, Exacta can translate annual reports according to IFRS, International Financial Reporting Standards.
Interim and annual reports are largely structured in a very similar way from quarter to quarter or year to year, and a lot of the text is repeated. For this reason, we store all your texts in a special database called translation memory. Our translation software retrieves previously translated texts so you don't have to pay for the same thing over and over again.
